Kudiyarasu Articles in Tamil
Periyar started Kudi Arasu on 2 May 1925 in Erode with K.M.Thangaperumal pillai as the editor. Its initial publications were issued weekly on Sunday with 16 pages at a cost of one anna. In November 1925, Periyar quit the Indian National Congress after his failed attempt to bring reservation for non-Brahmins in educational institutions and government jobs. He started the Self-Respect Movement to propagate self-respect among Indians, especially Tamils. The magazine became the mouthpiece of the movement. The magazine circulated in the Tamil diaspora, for which Thamizhavel G.Sarangapani played a prominent role. It had Periyar's wife Nagammai, his sister Kannammal and his brother E.V.Krishnasamy as the publisher for a period of time when he was on tour or arrested. It ceased publication on 5 November 1949.

பெரியார் என்று தமிழக மக்களால் அழைக்கப்படும் ஈ.வே.ராமசாமி தமிழகத்தை சார்ந்த ஒரு சமூக சீர்திருத்தவாதி, செயற்பாட்டாளர், சிந்தனையாளர் ஆவார். அவர் இறைமறுப்பு, பகுத்தறிவு, பெண்கள் முன்றேற்றம், கல்வி ஆகியவை சார்ந்து கொண்டிருந்ததே சிந்தனைகளே பெரியார் கொள்கைகள் அல்லது பெரியார் சிந்தனைகள் என்றழைக்கப்டுகின்றன.இவரின் சமுதாயப் பங்களிப்பை பாராட்டி யூனஸ்கோ நிறுவனம் புத்துலக தொலை நோக்காளர், தென்கிழக்காசியாவின் சாக்ரடிஸ், சமூக சீர்திருத்த இயக்கத்தின் தந்தை, அறியாமை மூடநம்பிக்கை, அர்த்மற்ற சம்பிரதாயங்கள், மட்டமான பழக்கவழக்கங்கள் ஆகியவற்றின் கடும் எதிரி என்று பாராட்டுச் சான்றிதழ் வழங்கியுள்ளது.இவருடைய பகுத்தறிவு, சுயமரியாதை கொள்கைகள் தமிழ்நாட்டின் சமூகப் பரப்பிலும், தமிழக அரசியலிலும் பலத் தாக்கங்களை ஏற்படுத்தியவை.
சாதி, மதம், மூட நம்பிக்கைகள், சடங்குகள், ஆணாதிக்கம், பொருளாதாரச் சுரண்டல் என அனைத்து வித இழிவுகளிலும் புதையுண்டு கிடந்த சமூகத்தை அவை அனைத்திலிருந்தும் மீட்டெடுத்து தன்மதிப்பு, சகோதரத்துவம், சமத்துவமுடைய ஒரு சமூகமாக மாற்ற தன் வாழ்நாள் முழுவதும் அயராது உழைத்த ஒரு மனிதர் பெரியார். தனது 95 ஆண்டு கால வாழ்க்கையில் ஏறத்தாழ 70 ஆண்டுகளுக்கும் மேலாக பொதுப் பணியில் ஈடுபட்டிருந்தவர் அவர்.
தனது சிந்தனைகளை அவர் பகிரங்கப்படுத்தியதும், பிரச்சாரம் செய்ததும் அதிலிருந்து பொருள் ஈட்டவோ, புகழ் பெறவோ அல்ல; தேர்தலில் வாக்குகள் பெறவும் அல்ல. மாறாக அவரது சிந்தனைகள் அன்றைய சமூகப் போக்கிற்கு நேர் எதிராக இருந்த காரணத்தால் எதிர்ப்புகளையும் இழப்புகளையுமே அவர் சந்தித்தார்.
பெரியாரின் இந்த நெடும்பயணம் சமூகத்தின் மீது அக்கறை கொண்ட ஒவ்வொரு மனிதனுக்கு வழிகாட்டியாக இருக்கக் கூடியது. அந்தப் பயணத்தின் சில பக்கங்களை, மிக முக்கியமான பக்கங்களை, பெரியாரின் சிந்தனைப் போக்கை, பெரியாரின் சொற்களிலேயே அறியும் வாய்ப்பாகவே பெரியார் திராவிடர் கழகம் வெளியிட்டிருக்கும் குடி அரசு தொகுப்பு விளங்குகிறது. இதுவும் பெரியாரின் வாழ்க்கை வரலாறுதான். ஆனால் சம்பவங்களால் கோர்க்கப்பட்ட வரலாறு அல்ல; கருத்துக்களால் கோர்க்கப்பட்ட வரலாறு.
